We really enjoyed our nurse home visit with Family Connects, and our nurse was fantastic! She provided wonderful resources, and a lot of important information for parents. Even though we already have a two-year-old, there were a lot of things that we learned from our visit, and we were impressed that the nurse checked on the health of the family in general. We would definitely recommend a nurse home visit with Family Connects for all parents.

My Family Connects experience was overall incredible! First hand I have seen how amazing but also challenging and uncertain motherhood can be. Having a nurse who was incredibly warm, kind, considerate, and overall very caring visit me in the comfort of my own home helped me feel supported and also put me at ease. As a first time Mom, I had so many questions and the time my nurse spent with me was invaluable. After she left I felt encouraged, supported, and more confident to care for my little one. I wish that every Mom in Austin could feel the support of Family Connects.

The Family Connects program probably saved my daughter’s life. As a second time mom, I was trying to be very relaxed and less anxious about things. Without the help and guidance of the nurse, I wouldn’t have known that my daughter needed immediate medical attention that required her to be hospitalized for 5 days. She is better now, but if things would not have been addressed, who knows. This program is extremely valuable and is an amazing resource and support for families. I am forever grateful for the care.

It’s so nice to have someone come to your house, in your own environment where you are comfortable, and reassure you about what you are doing with your newborn and address concerns. No stressful trip out to the Dr. or having to rearrange your schedule around feedings, nap time, and siblings schedules. My nurse was great and it was nice to get my baby girl’s weight checked to make sure she’s getting enough to eat.

Even as a second time mother who has a great support system, my experience with Family Connects was so valuable! The reassurance and care shown by the nurse who visited gave me confidence that everything was going well and answered some questions I had. I wish the same visit had been offered when I had my first child and encourage every new mom to take advantage of the in home visit! Motherhood can be incredibly overwhelming and a visit from a kind, knowledgeable nurse, with the option to ask questions later, was a blessing!

I’m so thankful and happy to have the opportunity to be part of this program. Our nurse was super helpful and nice to all of us. We had 2 visits in 2 weeks, each visit lasted about 2 hours, she listened and answered all of our concerns and gave us a lot of information, tips and reassurance of how well we are doing with our baby. We talked about breastfeeding and she helped me with breastfeeding positioning, diaper changes, introducing bottles, pumping, milk storage, tips for bathing baby, different ways to burp the baby, she weighed the baby as well and gave us a lot of information regarding support groups and books to read. I really enjoyed the visits plus we got a lot of goodies and gifts that I wasn’t even expecting. I really hope this program continue and expand across the country.

My family had a great experience with Family Connects. The first few weeks or parenthood are a whirlwind. When a reminder popped up on my calendar that a nurse was coming to visit I was thrilled. I was feeling the baby blues and sleep deprivation. Mostly feeling unsure of myself as a new mother. Our nurse was full of knowledge and compassion. She answered all of our questions and offered guidance when needed. She was genuine and I felt like I was talking to a friend. With her help I built my confidence as a mom. My anxiety lessened and I did not feel isolated anymore. Our family took her tips and began putting them into action daily. I learned it was important for me to be healthy mind and body so I could make sure my son was healthy. I can only hope this program is extended to many many women!
